About Me

I grew up in Long Beach, California where I enjoyed writing anything that would make my friends laugh. Due to my love of writing, I studied the arts in college. It was during that time I was encouraged to learn all forms of writing, which I embraced.

After college, I started my own business which, unfortunately, didn't succeed. To pay off the debt I sold everything I owned and started taking two buses to a job I was able to get. It was while riding the bus that I started writing again. I wrote jokes, short stories, and poems. Once I had enough money to buy another car I stopped writing and started sitting in traffic to get to work.

I am fortunate that I can heal myself through writing. So, when my last living grandmother passed away it didn't hit me until a few months later and to ease the pain I started writing again. A Girl Named Sam was born during those writing sessions. Five years later she was published! My first book, A Girl Named Sam, was written as a tribute to my grandmothers, and my second book, A Boy Named Bill was published in 2016. A Dog Named Lou followed in 2019 and Just Say Hello is now available.

Micheal I Corzine

Such a charming little story with a great message for kids. I love the illustrations and any story that teaches my little girls to love their uniqueness and listen to their hearts is a regular reading book for us. My kids love it and ask to have me read it again and again.

C. Clements

This is a wonderful story of love found in an unusual setting. it would be great if more children had a chance to do this...they would find an adoring and rapt audience for their reading, which definitely prompts more reading as well as the love of reading. And the animals they read to will get to spend some time with a loving human, making them more adoptable hopefully! Such a beautiful idea this book explores!

Dana Kaplan

I love this book! I really appreciate its positive message of loving yourself no matter how you may be different from others. I think my 4-month-old daughter likes it too! She's not yet verbal, but she seems drawn to the lyrical and rhyming nature of the text and how the book sounds when read aloud.
